The Kothmale West Divisional Secretariat Division
marked a historic milestone in the region's cultural landscape with the
successful conclusion of its inaugural regional literary festival, "Sasandula
2025". Held on October 24, 2025, at the Buddharaja Maha
Vidyalaya Auditorium, the festival stood as a grand tribute to the rich
literary heritage and artistic talents of our community.
Organized with the esteemed sponsorship and guidance of the Department
of Cultural Affairs, this maiden literary festival brought together state
officials, well-known figures, and art enthusiasts for a day filled with
creative expression.
Honoring Regional Literary Excellence
A key highlight of the festival was the official felicitation
ceremony dedicated to acknowledging the exceptional talents of the region.
Winners of various regional literary competitions—spanning across writing,
poetry, and other creative disciplines—were awarded certificates and accolades.
This recognition underscores the Secretariat's commitment to
nurturing a literate, expressive, and culturally aware generation within
Kothmale West.
A Unique Aesthetic Exchange
Adding a touch of artistic distinction to the event, a
special aesthetic appreciation segment was presented through an
inter-divisional collaboration. The Assistant Divisional Secretary of the
Doluwa Divisional Secretariat, along with the talented members of their
office musical and cultural troupe, "Sanhinda," delivered an
immersive performance.
The segment offered the audience a deep dive into cultural
arts, blending education with entertainment, and fostering a beautiful bond of
camaraderie between neighboring administrative divisions.
A Vibrant Spectrum of Cultural Performances
The "Sasandula 2025" festival was further enriched
by a variety of colorful and diverse cultural items performed by local students
and artists. From traditional dances to musical performances, the stage vividly
captured the essence of Sri Lankan heritage and modern creative flair.
Preserving Our Cultural Identity
As an institution, the Kothmale West Divisional Secretariat
believes that literature and the arts are vital to building a harmonious
society. The resounding success of this inaugural festival sets a strong
foundation for making "Sasandula" an annual tradition that will
continue to inspire local writers, poets, and artists for years to come.
"We extend our deepest gratitude to the Department of
Cultural Affairs, the guest performers from the Doluwa Divisional Secretariat,
the management of Buddharaja Maha Vidyalaya, and all the participants and
coordinators who worked tirelessly to bring this literary dream to life."
